Highway 4 expansion,
a $585 Million US Dollar Project http://widensr4.org/

The Highway 4 widening project involves widening approximately two miles of the highway through Pittsburg to Antioch. The new roadway will be concrete and will use 40,000 cubic yards of concrete, the construction of 5 bridges, 12 retaining walls, 5 signalized intersections, and the reconstruction of California Ave and Loveridge road. The prime contractor for Loveridge Road Project involves widening approximately two miles of the highway through Pittsburg and Antioch from 4 to 8 lanes.  This Loveridge section of the contract with funding of $165.4 million was awarded OC Jones and Sons, inc. The project will provide approximately 3,000 direct and indirect jobs. It is estimated that the project will take three years to complete with scheduled completion by the end of 2013. Total funding for the Highway 4 widening project, including right of way, utilities relocations, construction, design and support costs is $585 million US Dollars. (see SR4MapAndFundingSources.pdf)
